How to Host Trivia

Trivia usually takes a bit more than 2 hours. For this example we will say it starts at 7 and ends at 9. Below is a suggested timeline of how the evening can occur.

6:30- Host arrives and pages are handed out. Teams can begin working on the image round.

7:00- Trivia officially begins. The host will share the rules and prizes. They will then share questions from the first general knowledge round. The host should wait roughly one and half minutes between each question.

7:20- Correct the first two rounds. This can be done in many different ways:

• Honour system, each team marks their own while the host yells out the answers. (Covid Safe)

• Host collects the pages and marks them on their own. This will make trivia last longer between rounds

• Pass pages to another team and the host announces the answers.

7:30- Break times- give 15 minutes for everyone to stretch their legs and refill their drinks.

7:45- Music Round. Play each song sample twice. At the end of the round, take requests for any repeats. This round is faster than the general knowledge rounds. 

8:00- Correct the Music Round.

8:05- Break Time- Give 15 minutes.

8:20- Include the second round of general knowledge.

8:40- Correct the final round and ask teams to add up their total score.

8:45- The host will come around and collect the final scores. Be sure to write down all names of teams.

8:55- Host announces the winners.
