Who are your participants?

• The majority of the participants range between 25-35 years old. That being said, the questions lend well to participants above and below the age range. 

 

How long does trivia take?

• Trivia lasts about 2 hours. Spacing each question out a minute and a half and 10-15 minutes between rounds to allow time for everyone to get a drink. 

 

How often should I host trivia?

• This is up to your establishment. We would suggest once a week.

 

Where do you get your questions?

• All questions are created and curated by YGK Trivia. These questions are not purchased or taken from other online sources, they are solely based on our creative efforts. 

 

What prizes should I use?

• That is up to your establishment, but we would suggest having either one big prize or a first and second prize.

 

Are there ever any special theme nights?

• Yes! We have themed-base trivia that we will be offering. Remember, theme nights can be quite niche and some of the regulars may not want to attend. 

 

What happens if a team challenges an answer?

• The trivia has been thoroughly fact-checked, but we respect that there may be a more updated answer or possible alternatives. As a general rule, if a team can prove between rounds that they have a differing and still correct answer, we encourage you to give them the point and let us know of the correction. Additionally, we share the new answer with the whole establishment. We then inform the bar of the updated answer but give a point for the old answer.

 

What happens if there is a tie?

• If there is a tie, there are many ways for the establishment to decide what they want to do. Some suggestions are:

  • Ask a quick question where each team has to write it on a piece and race over to you. The first one to arrive with the correct answer wins.

  • Provide a few small beer tasters to the team and they must determine which beers they are.

  • Give the teams a 2-minute time limit to write out a list of a topic (ex: US States, African Countries, Prime Ministers). 

 

What do I need to set up?

• The steps taken to ensure trivia is ready to go are:

  • Find a host that can be heard across your establishment (microphones help)

  • Print off the trivia host page and enough team pages for each table. Black and white printing will work.

  • Get pens to handout

  • Download the audio files and ensure they work well on your sound system.

 

What are the rules to trivia?

• The establishment can decide, but the common rules are no phones and do not yell out the answers.

 

How many people are on a team?

• This will be your choice based on the setup of your establishment, but we would suggest no more than 6. If there is a team of 10 competing against a team of 2, it is very discouraging.

 

Some of the teams have mentioned that the trivia is either too hard or too easy. How do we handle this?

• The way we approach trivia is we want everyone to feel like they either can or could answer the questions. We want to make sure that all questions are accessible. Some evenings are much more challenging than others. That being said, everyone is being asked the same questions and are competing against each other. 

 

Can I request a theme?

• Of course, but please keep in mind that it will take some time to be completed and may only show up in a future bundle. If you would like a personalized theme, please contact us and we can discuss how we can proceed.

 

I have bought trivia questions before, they seem to be very US-focused. Is this the same?

• Nope! We are proud to say we are Canadian-based. While we do put effort into making sure our questions are accessible to people from all countries, we do regularly include Canadian-based trivia.

 

Will you market the event for us?

• Sadly, no. It will be up to the establishment to share the trivia details with their clientele. 

 

What if another bar buys the trivia from you?

• By deciding to be part of the YGK Trivia community, your establishment gains the right to be the sole receiver of YGK Trivia in your region. If another establishment nearby does want to receive the trivia, we will contact you to ensure that you are comfortable with this.

 

How will we receive your trivia?

• Once the purchase is confirmed, we will send you access to a Google Drive folder that you will be able to access. As you purchase more trivia, we will update the folder. You are welcome to download the contents for easier access. 

 

I have several establishments, can I use the trivia questions at all the locations?

• No, we ask you to respect our agreement. If you would like to work out a discount for multiple locations, we would be happy to discuss this with you.

 

Can I share this trivia with other establishments?

• YGK Trivia is trying to create a unique trivia experience at a very affordable rate. We ask that all community members respect the agreements to only use the trivia at one establishment and not share the content with others.

 

Can I cancel our purchasing agreement?

• Yes, you buy the trivia bundles 1 at a time. You can use them every week or once a month. If trivia is not becoming a positive experience, you are not required to purchase any more bundles. 

 

Can I buy a year's worth of trivia all at once?

• We are happy to provide a few bundles ahead of time, but we recommend that you wait, as a lot of the trivia is related to current events.
